Early Shredding 2010

...so I made it up to the Mountain for my first shralpin' day of the new season. Riding up with Jake-e and Carnie-dog and changing all the lyrics of every song on the radio to resemble something dirty I came to the quick realization that I had left not only my phone at home but my video camera as well...yep sitting right there next to the front door! WTF Ziggy??? ...was the response from my other patrons of shred. "Relax," I said, "...are you guys even surprised? You should have reminded me rather than pushing me out the front door!!" (...hahaha, actually I was the one that was butt hurt at the fact that I had forgot my camera, no body else even cared...)

Arriving at the Timberline parking lot I proceeded into the lodge to get my pass for the year and to my surprise I was wearing the same shirt in my pass-pic as last year...some things never change...so we strapped in and headed down the mountain in typical -haven't-rode-in-four-months-style sloppily slashing two inches of pow and getting a bit backside gnarly on some fun rollers...to my wonder I found that only the pucci lift was running as I crashed into a group of skiers near the bottom of the run...

Standing in line I realized that I had a dog leash in my pocket and proceeded to start encouraging other riders to keep their animals on a leash...they were all confused and I was thinking it was the funniest thing ever...anyway we had a fun twenty minute lift line and when I got up to the front I realized that the liftee Loren was the same guy that made me read the skiers-code after completely destroying a "slow" sign near the bottom of a run last season, we had a laugh as I reminded him of the huge powder cloud residing to bare me in a tangled mess with poles and orange mesh... "this year is gonna be even more fun than last" I told him as the chair carried me away up to the top...

We made a few runs through the mini park shredding a few corrugated pipes and some small boxes...hiking a few features rather than battling the lift line after every run...the sun was shining and we were in top spirits as the season seems to finally be here in full swing...heading back to the lodge for breather and stopping in to say hi to our favorite t-line bartender Tina, we met a couple cool dudes from Detroit that told us about there awesome recording studio in Michigan, The Hive Colony...they video taped as Jake-e attempted a rodeo off a small makeshift kicker that these kids were making under the lodge...the whole jump basically gave way as he hit it...all I can say is that it was a good thing the landing was untouched powder...

We took the Hive out to Dante's Sinferno that Sunday night to show some out-of-towners the awesome culture of Portland...fire dancing, pbr, gogo girl's, and burlesque...add a local cup of coffee, some food carts and voodoo doughnuts, and...well you get the idea...

...another good season opener in the books...zigaloha
