powgnar goes to the olympics...
...so about a year ago a buddy of mine austin said to me, "hey let's go to the olympics in BC 2010 bro" and i was like, "that would would be uber gnar man"... so we made reservations at a hostel in downtown Vancouver for a week right in the middle of the olympic action and last week we jumped the border and set off for a week of partying and exploring with our neighbors to the north, and every other country that decided to come out for the festivities...
...the first night proved to be preview of the rest of the nights there as we crashed a few local bars and wound up in a backpacker bar right near the hostel, as the jugs o' canadian started flowing we got a little powgnar wild with the locals and created some fun new games with their currency that involved some interesting results...I figured out that night that canadians know how to party...the night ended with a few jug drinking contests, slices of all night pizza, and the nice taste of powgnar in a few mouths...
...waking up with twenty minutes before the puck drop of USA v Norway hockey, i hopped out of my bunk with hopes of scoring a ticket to the event from one of the many bohemians roaming the streets around canada hockey place...five minutes after the game had started i managed to score a half price ticket in the 15th row, right above the glass...sweet...USA easily wins and after i catch up with my gnarnians who had also scored tickets...
...piling out of the arena we headed toward gastown for some volcano's and some lunch, then down to check out the tourch on the waterfront, which was barricaded off behind twenty foot fences, and that turned into some wandering towards Chinatown right after dusk which was a great idea...after a few bum rushes we barged into what looked like a safe mix of an old theater and cheers puked into one...either way the beer was super cheap and i met a cool guy named Hans that told me all about curling and how that even thought the US had a better hockey team that they would lose to the canucks in the final...after laughing over a few high-balls downed from dusty chipped glases, we made a run back to the lights of Granville and the all night pizza slices that told many a tale themselves...
...until we meet again canada...f'n eh?! zigaloha
